In the question of PC (Personal Computer; ie. YOUR personal computer) it is ILLEGAL for you to log any conversations, and read them, as this is an invasion of privicy. In the question of children under the age of magority, it is however legal for a parent to monitor, and view any activity the child does, as snugg pointed out. 90% of kids wont give up their PW's to parents, or tell them they are creating ID's so this is where the parent's activity can come into play.
