How about this?....get rid of messenger (msmsgs.exe version 4.7.2009) forever..why does it need to have access to the internet before you ask it to? I finally had to block it in zonealarm firewall....daily I was getting thousands of attempted outgoing blocks. Like hell to get off. Finally I
did it in run. Close down all applications running.In run, type:
RunDll32<space>advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection& lt;space>%windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
This is if you want it gone forever because you are not using it and it is demanding continual access to the internet, even when you dont feel like using it.
I found this way easier then in regedit as I wasn't able to get rid of it there.
