A. You can get scripts for mIRC.
B. IRC is kind of simple, but it works.
C. I think it works the way it is. I hate the idea of chats having to be "attractive". In Trillian all incoming and outgoing messages a are a solid black on white 12 point font Tahoma =).
But that's just me.
