I think I figured how to delete it...

I searched the computer for the update number, (mine was 3881.7.19) and it found the EXE file, called c:\DocumentsAndSettings\AllUsers\ApplicationData\A OL\UserProfiles\AllUsers\SUDS\Persistant\5 and I deleted it, and haven't seen that pesky pop-up since. The word 'Persistant' in the file name was fitting. When I e-mailed aol about that core update, I also got back a half-assed response telling me to download it to make aol even better, but the reply wasn't official AOL blue, and the name even sounded suspicious, so I still didn't download, which meant my computer would never put itself into Standby, which was a real pain. Now it seems to be gone, thank god.
