CNET's Webware.com has announced the winners of their first
Webware 100. Over 20 days in May and June, users voted for their favorite apps in ten categories, with the top ten in each category joining the Webware 100.
In the
Communications category, which includes E-mail, chat and voice, the winners were (in no particular order):
- Gmail
- Trillian
- Windows Live Messenger
- Skype
- Meebo
- AIM
- GrandCentral
- Yahoo! Mail
- Yahoo! Messenger
- Windows Live Hotmail
Instant messaging (IM), chat and voice apps beat out e-mail 6-4. But of course, loyal BigBlueBall fans would expect nothing less.
