1) the batch file references a folder "Profiles" the shell script references a folder "Profile". either pidgin is using two different config folders or is only using the default for one of the installs. also .purple should be a
folder not a file according to
pidgin --help:

2) are you sure? old versions of Gaim on Linux (i'm running 2.0.0beta3.1) have "report idle time when..." under Tools>>Prefrences>> Away/Idle. Sorry, i haven't installed the latest Pidgin on this linux box yet. When i get back home i'll check it out for you.
