Ann - here's what I'd like you to do:
1. Rerun you HiJack This log and check the box next to the single item marked O13 and have HiJack remove it.
2. Go to
Norton Removal Tool and run it. There are still traces of Norton on your machine. It embeds itself very deeply and this is the best way to get rid of it totally. You will have conflicts with other anti-virus programs if it's not completely removed.
3. Go to
Filehippo and download the free AVG Antivirus program. I have never had it conflict with anything. You MUST have some firewall running at all times. Make sure to update the definitions and set it to update and scan daily. Run a complete system scan. It scares me to death that you have no virus protection on your machines.
4. Update your Adaware definitions and run a complete scan.
5. Download
Advanced Windows Care and run it. The it will not only scan for spyware not detected by Adaware but will also tweak your system and help improve performance. I usually leave all the boxes checked and run a complete scan and fix. Be sure to allow it to back up your registry the first time you do it.
6. I'd also recommend running
CCleaner for Windows, Applications, and Registry (again be sure to allow it to backup before fixing.)
Since you're using a Linksys router it likely has a firewall built in. Please make sure your Windows Firewall is turned off.
Go to Control Panel and look at your default programs. Please make sure IE is your default internet browser.
In Yahoo Messenger, go to Messenger/Preferences/Connections. Make sure you are on no proxies, the internet connection and country are correct.
Let me know after this massive cleanup if there is any improvement. I'd also take a look at your event logs and see if there's anything happening right at the time this occurs.
