Hello and welcome to BBB! I take anything Norton off my machines as soon as I get them. I won't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Once you install it, it worms it's way into all kinds of places and doesnt like to be erased with an uninstall.

Did you do a standard uninstall from Add/Remove programs? Or did you use the Norton Removal Tool on the Symantec website? Had you uninstalled your previous Anti-Virus before you installed the Norton? If so were you able to reinstall it with no errors popping up about Norton still being on your machine?

What operating system do you have (XP or Vista)? What Anti-Virus program did you switch back to? And what firewall are you using?

It will likely take a bit of digging to figure out what's causing the problem.
