I've used the desktop version of Nimbuzz off and on for a few years. However, I've just recently added my Skype account and haven't tested it out. I must say I've always thought of Nimbuzz as one of the under-appreciated programs. It's still listed as beta after almost 2 years, but it's been a decent program all along and there has been a lot of development over that time.

To answer your question, yes, according to the information you can make Skype to Skype calls from Nimbuzz and it will simply use your data plan minutes. So having an unlimited data plan and/or using a free wi-fi connection is almost a must. But yes, if you have overseas contacts or don't have included long distance - Nimbuzz might be a good mobile solution for you.

I've always been impressed with it, and was always a bit disappointed I couldn't get the mobile app for my cell phone. Well, with the iPhone I have it now! At least until Astra is approved for iPhone, Nimbuzz will be my app of choice for on the go multi-client IM.
