Lol...I thought I was the only one who was afflicted with this problem! (See my post here: http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/to...p?TOPIC_ID=718).

You've added some people at one time, and now you want to delete them? I've never used that feature...I always use "Always ask for my permission" which requires me to approve everyone who requests to view my webcam. You might try that option until we figure out a way to delete names permanently from your "allow" list.
Ahh Jeff...if only it was that simple! Unfortunately these users have found a way of adding themselves to your allow list. However I have realised that you do need to allow them to view first before they are able to add themselves. However there are times when you allow someone to view in good faith (by granting permission...I always have my preferences set to "Always ask for my permission") only to find that they have added themselves to your allow list!

So far I have only discovered one way of removing these malicious users and that is to unistall and reinstall messenger. Once you have done that they will be removed from your allow list. I have also attempted to block these users but found that to be ineffective! I suspect that our answer will be found in one of those *.dll files. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Jeff, are you sure that the filter also operates in IM's? I have found that people are still able to send me boot codes in an IM however if they use the same code in the main chat room it is filtered. Surely you would also see the font and fade codes (such as ***** size="11"&gt; and *****#d603f3,#c687fe,#8a87fe,#6561fe,#c701e2&gt in your IM's if the filter operated in your IM's. If you see the fade and font codes in the main chat room with your filter on I would expect the same thing to occur in my IM's.

I have also found that I am constantly adding to Jeffs filter as people find more code to use to amuse their juvenile minds. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> So add to yours when you can! You can look here: http://www.zakie.fsnet.co.uk/ChatRoo...terstopper.htm for more help with your filter.

I agree with Jeff that a clean install of Messenger would most likely solve most of your problems. I do however suggest that you scan for viruses before reinstalling messenger (you can do that here: http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp This is a free and secure scan and will detect most virii.) You should also scan disk and defrag often.

It is also a good idea to make sure that your file transfer options(login&gt;preferences&gt;file transfer) are set so that you (at the very least!) have to give permission before a file transfer takes place.

A good firewall (such as Zonealarm) is a great tool. However your firewall is only as good as the settings you use...so make sure you check your settings!

It is possible that your problems with connecting can be attributed to your firewall conflicting with Messenger. Look at the settings under "connection" (Login&gt;preferences&gt;connection) and you may find that you need to change your settings there to allow for your firewall.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I don't use the archive feauture so I can't help you there. Hope you are able to solve most of your problems!
