Curious about whats coming down the road for Enterprise AIM users? Heres what AOL is saying to their beta testers:
We thought you would like to know that the next version of enterprise AIM Services - featuring end-to-end encryption - is now available for beta testing.
The new products include:
- AIM 5.2 - the next release of standard AOL Instant Messenger client software - now supports end-to-end encryption for messages sent between AIM 5.2 users with security credentials. Encrypted file transfer and group chat are also supported. Security credentials use industry-standard digital certificates.
- AIM Enterprise Gateway 2.0 - server software allows enterprises to manage and control AIM communications. Now with Version 2.0, the AIM Enterprise Gateway allows enterprises to archive and review AIM 5.2 encrypted messages. Other enhancements include support of LDAP compliant directories for sync and attribute mapping. In addition, the software now allows administrator to grant or restrict AIM features at the enterprise, group or user level.
The beta products are available on a private download site. To qualify for the download, you must meet these criteria:
- U.S. enterprises that agree not to export software outside the U.S.
- Will agree to the terms and conditions of the AOL beta software license
- Will deploy the products to at least 10 users
- Will report incidents each week during the beta test period and will complete a 15 minute beta survey at the conclusion of the beta period
