AOL Previews AIM Triton 1.5

AOL today released the AIM Triton 1.5 Preview Edition, with the addition of a new plug-in capability called AIM Gadgets. This new "preview" edition (note how they avoid that scary "beta" description) is available as a free download now.

What's new in this version?
  • Easier access to the new AIM Phoneline service that gives you a free local phone number, call screening and voicemail.
  • Integration with the recently announced AIM Pages service, that gives you MySpace-style profiles.
  • New AIM Gadgets -- plug-ins that add functionality to AIM Triton. This version ships with several, including gadgets for IM logging, converting phone numbers into clickable links that launch voice calls, and changing your away message from a mobile phone.
  • They also announced an interesting AIM Location gadget that lets you place your location on a MapQuest map in relation to others on your buddy list who are also using the plugin.
AIM has the marketshare, but gets little respect among many hardcore IM fans. These new features may change all that -- AIM is actually looking pretty good again.

i think that this new AIM is awwwwsome. It totally beats classic 5.9 by a long shot. Plus, AOL Explorer comes with it. I, personally, love it. The AIM gadgets makes Triton even cooler. I hope AOL continues to make new out of old
