AIM Pro Targets Business IMers
AOL has officially launched it's free, corporate instant messaging program, AIM Pro. The program was developed in conjunction with WebEx and is designed to leverage the collaboration and meeting features offered by WebEx.Analysis firm The Radicati Group says that 135 million workers consider IM a key collaboration tool, and that figure is expected to reach 477 million in the next three years. AIM Pro provides a stream-lined, more business-oriented interface with SSL encryption when sending messages between two AIM Pro users. In addition, instead of picking an AIM screenname, AIM Pro users can choose to use an email address, a key feature request from many businesses. Like the consumer-oriented AIM, AIM Pro connects with AIM, ICQ and iChat users. It's available as a free download from AOL's website. Although AIM Pro is targeted primarly at business users, it's available to anyone and many people looking for a more professional tool might find it a good alternative to the regular AIM program. buddy icons
