Font background color

I want to change the default font background color in AIM. I know I can change the "window color" in the preferences, but that way the whole window has the new background color. I hate the way that looks. I like the behavior when you change the background color on a window-by-window basis. Is there any way to set this so I don't have to change it every time I open a new window? If it makes any difference, I'm using AIM 4.8.

I dont't see what you are saying......... Why don't you want to change the color in preferences? I think what you mean is that the person that you are talking to has a different color backround then you and you always want a solid backround, but if the person you are talking to has a different backround then you it shows up it srtipes...... Am i getting the point? Sorry just supply A little more information

Try doing it both ways. If you have it set in preferences, the whole window background color switches, including behind your screen name. I hate the looks of this. If you set it on a window-by-window basis, only the text you write will have the new background color.

Okay now i see what you are saying. I haven't found anything that will fix this problem in aim. You might try to find an ad-on at download.com, you'll probably just need to find a text replacement or something of that sort. I'll keep my eyes out for something

I'm not quite sure what your asking but umm... instead of clicking on change window color, try the box that says change background color. This only changes the color behind the font.

That option is not present in the preferences, only on a window-by-window basis. At least I don't see it on mine.

Yes, but that has to be set for each conversation.
