Problem sending messages with AIM

I recently did some tweaks to my PC. Now AIM is misbehaving. I can open it, run it and log and receive IMs. I cannot however transmit any return messages. Once I type the message the "send" icon turns green at the bottom right...however when I either click on the send icon or hit enter it greys out and no transmission occurs. This problem seems to come and go though. I cannot identify what is causing it to do this.

Other info:

I am using XP with the most current updates.
I was using an old version of AIM, uninstalling it and reinstalling failed to solve the problem.
Upgraded to the newest version of AIM failed to solve it as well.
Doing System Restores to previous points DO NOT solve the problem.
AIM works fine on a different computer that connects to the net via the same cable modem.


Anyone ever heard of this by chance and know what it was I turned on/off or tweaked?

How long have you waited for your message to see if it will go through? How's your internet, is it working up? What about deleting the AIM directory first and then reinstalling?
