the lock means that if someone else has a lock next to their name too, the conversation will be encrypted so hackers and stuff will have a harder time finding out what your talking about.
On my buddy list there is one person with a lock next to the sn, sort of like the away message note boook but its a lock wut does this mean?

um....wut does that mean?
When you have a conversation with a friend, each time you type a message, and click send, Aim sends what you said to your friend, when you do this, some people have found illigal ways to spy on your conversation, but if your conversation is encrypted, if the person tryed to look at your conversation, it would look something like "sd9*8a&p9%4a9erh#g" instead of "Hi friend!"
ok the one thing that still confuses me is if hackers can see wut u type when its not encrypted y not make encryption part of teh aim program
hey does it work on aim 5.1 when i add something, sort of like a code on aimres.dll using resource hacker??? it might work, trying to enable a "security" option? if anyone has a code for "security" preferences option, it might work though, i hate aim 5.2+
Because you can easily decrypt it then. There are many AIM encryption keys around, all unique. If the AIM client just comes with one default encryption key the data can be easily decrypted by anyone, so it becomes useless.quote:Originally posted by korruptmind
