"must be system administrator" problem on aim

i have had aim 5.2.3277 and had been running it with an aimutation aim addon(like dead aim) and I had to uninstall both of them. I reinstall aim 5.2.3277 and at the very end of the installation it says something like "Please install from system administrators position" and than the setup closes and aim just installs anyway because all the files are done loading. I think everything is ok and go on aim, and try and change my font to the usual and it wont save, none of the settings will save (font settings, privacy settings, stock ticker settings, etc.). Than why try to install my aimutation add on, it says it cannot find aol instant messenger on my system when it is clearly there. I've tried upgrading to the latest version of aim but had all of the same problems. any help is appreciated.

So login to your computer as Administrator and install AIM?

im running on windows me, there is no restrictions on anything else and we dont have seperate log ins. I dont even know how it happened.
