Keeping your buddy list at the limit

Okay so I've noticed a couple of people asking about getting more buddies on your buddy list than the limit. I've decided to come up with a list of suggestions on how to keep your buddy list at or below the limit.

    1. We all like to brag about how we have so many people on our buddy list, thruth is we don't know half of them.

    2. Delete all those people you met in chatrooms. The ones you met in there and are your online bf/gf are probably dating about 20 other people and you don't even know it.

    3. Delete all the people you've never seen. Yes, we've all met people online that are nice but the chances are very slim that you'll actually get a chance to meet them. Plus they lie about their age a lot.

    4. You know that day you got AIM and took out a piece of paper and went to every table at lunch and asked people for their screennames? Get rid of all those people that you never talk to and they're just kind of on your buddy list.

    5. Get rid of the people that you never talk to. You don't need to check if their online or not. Keep the important ones, but get rid of people you knew back in 5th grade and don't talk to anymore.

    6. Keep your relatives while deleting people that you've never seen. They wouldn't be too happy at being deleted.

    7. Try to keep the people on your buddy list at or close to your age. There is no point in having someone on your buddy list that's ten years older and you just stare at the screenname.

This should keep your buddy list at or below the limit. If you're still having problems get a new screenname . If you don't want to get a new screenname get Trillian.

    1. We all like to brag about how we have so many people on our buddy list, thruth is we don't know half of them.
I don't brag about stupid things like that, And your suggestion is?

    2. Delete all those people you met in chatrooms. The ones you met in there and are your online bf/gf are probably dating about 20 other people and you don't even know it.
Why would you add people from chatrooms anyway?

    3. Delete all the people you've never seen. Yes, we've all met people online that are nice but the chances are very slim that you'll actually get a chance to meet them. Plus they lie about their age a lot.
So because you never will see them, they are useless? I should delete 5/8 of my Buddylist because I have never seen them? That's pretty stupid.

    4. You know that day you got AIM and took out a piece of paper and went to every table at lunch and asked people for their screennames? Get rid of all those people that you never talk to and they're just kind of on your buddy list.
    That's lame, who does that?

    5. Get rid of the people that you never talk to. You don't need to check if their online or not. Keep the important ones, but get rid of people you knew back in 5th grade and don't talk to anymore.
Well duh, who keeps people they don't talk to on their list?

    6. Keep your relatives while deleting people that you've never seen. They wouldn't be too happy at being deleted.
    You already said that.

    7. Try to keep the people on your buddy list at or close to your age. There is no point in having someone on your buddy list that's ten years older and you just stare at the screenname.
Err...okay, so I should talk to anyone that isn't my age? Why not?

This should keep your buddy list at or below the limit. If you're still having problems get a new screenname . If you don't want to get a new screenname get Trillian.

This can all be boiled down to: Delete people you don't talk to.

I have to admit that I'm really bad about keeping my list clean. I used to add people all the time without giving it much thought. Once I started bumping my head against the limit, I had to go through and clean house. It's amazing how many people there were on there that I never talked to... not even once!

Dragonreborn, you've got some good tips in there, although I don't agree with all of them. If I only talked to people my own age... well I'd have a pretty short list.

Was just some suggestions you know. It's for those that have problems with having too many, so that's another thing you can take off.

David: It's too help people. I don't see you as someone having problems with too many people on your buddy list? Last time I checked you're using Trillian and hate AIM as I do. David think about it. People you've never seen! Where did you meet them? Most of them in chatrooms. There are some that you get to know, but those are those that you keep because they mean something to you. Number 1 was suggesting that it doesn't matter how big your buddy list is, it is always better to have 20 people in a section than 100. It could get pretty hard to find the person you want to talk to. As for number 4 I've seen enough people do that. Number 7 said try. Not go ahead and delete everyone that isn't 13 because your 13. As for 5 it's one of the main reasons people have problems. They forget they can take people off the list...

    "online bf/gf" ... that's just sad.

    3. Delete all the people you've never seen. Yes, we've all met people online that are nice but the chances are very slim that you'll actually get a chance to meet them. Plus they lie about their age a lot.

Dave, you're off my buddy list!

    4. You know that day you got AIM and took out a piece of paper and went to every table at lunch and asked people for their screennames? Get rid of all those people that you never talk to and they're just kind of on your buddy list.

I usually get my screen name asked, not ask other people.

    5. Get rid of the people that you never talk to. You don't need to check if their online or not. Keep the important ones, but get rid of people you knew back in 5th grade and don't talk to anymore.

    Can't argue.

    6. Keep your relatives while deleting people that you've never seen. They wouldn't be too happy at being deleted.

    Same as #3.

    7. Try to keep the people on your buddy list at or close to your age. There is no point in having someone on your buddy list that's ten years older and you just stare at the screenname.

How is Trillian gonna break past the number of people you can add to your list?

    Sometimes people ask for buddylists.
    2. Delete all those people you met in chatrooms. The ones you met in there and are your online bf/gf are probably dating about 20 other people and you don't even know it.
I'm not saying I do it but I've met enough people that do...
    3. Delete all the people you've never seen. Yes, we've all met people online that are nice but the chances are very slim that you'll actually get a chance to meet them. Plus they lie about their age a lot.
Well, gee I'm sorry. Did I hurt your feelings? Keep the people that you really need for help and such and the ones that you really relaly enjoy talking to...
    4. You know that day you got AIM and took out a piece of paper and went to every table at lunch and asked people for their screennames? Get rid of all those people that you never talk to and they're just kind of on your buddy list.
    People do that.
    5. Get rid of the people that you never talk to. You don't need to check if their online or not. Keep the important ones, but get rid of people you knew back in 5th grade and don't talk to anymore.
People that ask how to get more than the limit don't take people off that they don't talk to.
    6. Keep your relatives while deleting people that you've never seen. They wouldn't be too happy at being deleted.
Not the same as number 3. It was stating keep...
    7. Try to keep the people on your buddy list at or close to your age. There is no point in having someone on your buddy list that's ten years older and you just stare at the screenname.
At or close. Plus I said 10 years older, anyway keep the people you reall like talking to or need on your buddylist.

Don't like my way? Make your own geez. They are suggestions! Stop worrying about it...and yes you can get more than 100 with trillian.

The limit is 200 buddy. And Trillian can't get more than 200, as buddy lists are kept on the AIM servers.

    Ok.

1)Delete the people you don't talk to.
2)If, amazingly enough, you've done #1 and you're still hitting the top, delete those you have MSN/Yahoo/Other names for and talk to them there. No reason having them both places.

No, I probably can't help you.
But I might be able to make you laugh and forget that you just nuked 16 hours of photoshop work.

*turns around and walks outside kicks a couple of cans against a garbage container and sighs* they were just suggestions...no need to get all over me because you don't like them. Anyway delete those stupid bots too if you have them for any reason. If you amuse yourself by talking to them then so be it. Don't ask me who puts them on because people do.

Yeah. For the people that had problems and you guys just gotta get on me for trying to help *sigh*...
