cpu usage

Why is aim using up to 99% of my cpu usage? It slows everything down and locks things up. Anyone else have this problem. I have windows xp home edition and aim 5.5.

thanks

Are you sure that it really is AIM? Right-click on your Taskbar and hit Task Maanger. Go to the Processes tab, find "aim.exe" and tell me how many KB it's using up.

You look at the taskbar? The taskbar doesn't show on program's CPU Usage, usually. Follow my diections I posted in my last post and tell me the number of KB its using.

today my cpu usage was 92% and 22,346 memory used when i checked it bc it was misbehaving. though it often spikes to 50% and i cant remember the memory used at that time. also now an error message is popping up outta nowhere every once in awhile. i hope thats enough info that someone can help.

sorry it took awhile to get back to u -i had to make an emergency trip to florida for family.

thanks in advance

he wanted to know how much AIM took up. The entire CPU's Usage doesn't help much.

running DeadAIM and Middleman as add-on for AIM will do that.
