Can't add buddies

earlier today i was deleting the people i didnt talk to on my buddylist then decided to just delete them all and load an old buddylist to start with. once i did that next to my group name (buddies) instead of saying (40/100) for the amount of people on out of a total of 100, it said (0/0). my buddies were removed automatically. I tried to reload other buddylists and nothing works. Then i try to add in a buddy myself and that doesnt work. when i tried to add a list or just 1 buddy it will go back to 0 buddies and say " One or more of the additions or modifications to your buddy list were not able to be saved." i waited like 5 hours before i tried to add buddies again and i still get the same message.

my other screen names work fine. i can add buddies to them.
i can still talk to buddies if they IM me but i cant see when people are on.
i tried adding buddies to my list from my friends computer and it still wont work.

any suggestions????? pleaseee someone help me. thanks in advanced.

It's most likely a problem with the AIM server, it happens frequently. Wait a day, and report back then.

Yeah, the servers have hiccups on occasion, sometimes it's just for a few minutes, but every now and then it will last many hours, or even a day; the day-long thing hasn't happened in long time as far as I know.

The Unlimited Buddylist
Why don't you try this:

THE UNLIMITED BUDDY LIST

1.) Click the "Start" button on. (left bottom corner)
2.) Click the "Run" button on the Start Menu
3.) When the "Run" box pops up, type in "Regedit" then click OK
4.) When the "Regedit" box opens up, click the [+] sign next to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER"
5.) When that list comes up, click the [+] sign next to "Software"
6.) When that list comes up, click the [+] sign next to "American Online"
7.) And when THAT list comes up, click the [+] sign next to "AOL Instant Messenger"
8.) After that list, click the [+] sign next to "Current Version"
9.) Now, double click the "Buddy" folder. On the right something should pop up
10.) So on the right, double click "MaxBuddies"
11.) When the window pops up, change the base to decimal.
12.) Change the number to whatever you like, then click OK and close the big box (the whole thing)

Just to make sure do all that over again.
YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO !

like i said in the other topic. as far as i know, that wont work, since the maximum limit for the buddylist is reset everytime you connect to the aim servers. you can set that number to be anything you like in the registry, but aim will reset it the moment you sign on.

As I was going down the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today; I wish I wish he'd go away.
