Instant Idling (I searched the forums, couldn't find an answer).

Are there any successful stand-alone Instant Idling programs out there? I used "Instant Idler 5.2" for the longest time with AIM 5.5.3595 and DeadAIM 4.5 on a Windows 98SE machine. I recently built a new machine and am running Windows XP Pro now, with the same versions of AIM and DeadAIM as on the Windows 98SE machine, but now Instant Idler no longer works, it says "Ok ... you are idle", but I never actually go idle.

Has anyone come across a working stand-alone idling program? I don't want another add-on program like middle_man because I am using DeadAIM and don't want conflicts. Does anyone know why Idler 5.2 won't work with Windows XP?

Also, from reading some other posts, many could not understand the use of an idling program, but believe me, it comes in very handy.

I actually even emailed the guy who made "Instant Idler 5.2" but he never responded. Anyway, any input would be helpful. There were many topics on Instant Idler, but no real answers in them.

Thanks.

i dont use the actual aim client anymore (i use trillian) and my laptop with Pro on it is out for repairs, so i cant test this out for you, but i found this site with a bunch of aim programs... http://www.blueshadowz.com/progz.htm roughly halfway down the page is a link to download IdleNow (http://www.blueshadowz.com/progz/idle.zip) i'm not sure if its standalone or not, you can try it out and see if it works.

As I was going down the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today; I wish I wish he'd go away.

Hey, thanks for the attempt. I DLed that and tried it, it turns out that program is just "Instant Idler 5.2" ... same exact thing. So it still didn't work, but I appreciate the effort. I was more confused by the fact that the prog worked with Windows98SE, but not Windows XP. I may try middle_man and hope no conflicts are caused.

no, i meant that i cant test out any idler programs on aim itself, since i dont use aim. i use trillian to connect to aim, msn, and yahoo all at the same time instead of using three different clients.

as far as i know, trillian does not have an idler built in.
