Interesting AIM problem with hyperlinks

My friend uses AIM 5.5 with the Palfun add-on. When people send her links to websites via AIM it goes to C:/Program Files/AIM every single time. She was originally using AIM 5.9 but downgraded to 5.5 to see if that would fix the problem. She does have linked screen names, and it happens on all of them. Any suggestions to fix this or possible causes? Thanks in advance.

Uninstall AIM, Uninstall Palfun.
Install AIM, check for hyperlinking problems.
If the problem has been fixed, then install Palfun again. If after installing Palfun the problem comes back; it is safe to assume that Palfun is the cause, and to look into other add-ons.

My friend says when she downgraded from AIM 5.9 to AIM 5.5 she uninstalled palfun, and even tried using just AIM without the palfun add-on installed. The problem still occured.

She also just told me that the problem also happens when she tries to click on the FAQ's when she is in AIM help.

As I said, uninstall and reinstall AIM.

Try installing AIM to a different directory and see if that fixes it (Rather than install it to C:\Program Files\AIM, try installing it to C:\Program Files\AOLIM).

Also, try going down another notch to AIM 5.2 (don't worry, your not missing out on anything by downgrading, the newer AIM gets, the worse it seems to get).

My friend tried installing and uninstalling five or six times. Also tried installing in a different folder. We're still trying things on our end too. We're a bit stumped.
