Turning off AIM Today for good

Have you had problems with the AIM Today window popping up when you sign-on, even though you've setup AIM to turn it off? BigBlueBall member zjam sent me this tip for turning off the AIM Today window for good!
  1. Go to AIM Preferences, click Sign on/off and put a check in Show AIM.com window at sign on, hit Apply and OK then close AIM.
  2. Reopen AIM, and click My AIM "in the top left corner of your buddy list" on that drop down menu click Select Useful Tools... "a Internet Explorer window should pop up" "may vary dependent on your browser settings" in that window click the link that says remove menu, then that window will close out.
  3. Now go back into your AIM preferences and once again disable Show AIM.com windows at sign on.
  4. Close AIM
  5. Reopen AIM...and if your followed the 5 easy steps correctly it should now be gone for good...or at least till the next version of AIM

Very nice. The registry change that i posted in a previous post of mine, didnt seem to work for this crap to be removed.

The road to success is always under construction.

popup/browse

if you delete those two files, or like i did, just rename them, you would not be able to open links from aim chat boxes

On your AIM popup buddy list go to> Edit>Settings>Signin/Signout>( in the : (When I sign in,display the following) section..press None..or uncheck all the boxes. this will stop the Aim Today window from automatically signing in when you sign into your AIM buddy list. ;@)

HalitosisGuy, Thanks for your instructions. Most people are too "smart" to start with the basics when trying to explain something. All of the posts I found on line didn't explain to start on the buddy list. Some may say that I am stupid, but not everyone has the same knowledge or skills.I am an "older" person, And find it increasingly harder to find people who know how to explain things properly.
