Can't update email address

I cannot update my email address that is associated with my screenname. Whenever I try to do it through the AIM program by going to File>Edit Options>Update Email Address it will show my old email (beefstu@home.net) and allows me to put in my new email (beefstu@comcast.net) but then times out. I get an email on my comcast.net account that tells me to confirm my change by replying with the word 'OK' and after doing so I immediately get a reply telling me that the conformation failed because of an unknown error. Right now I do not remember my password for my AIM account and am trying to get it emailed to me. Home.net no longer exsists (they were bought by comcast and the old email addresses no longer work). I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.

you can try to update your email address through http://my.screenname.aol.com/. once you log in this site will show you a screen that will allow you to update your email address, password, and other stuff.

if my.screenname.aol.com doesn't work to let you update the email then your screen name is aol'd

darn - its been two days and it still does not update. Any other ideas? maybe because of firewall? is there a port AIM communicates on that i should forward through my router?

i don't think it has anything to do with your local settings. if there is a problem it's on the aol/aim servers. aim email updates take 72 hours (3 days) to complete.

Okay its been three days and still not working. Is there anyway I can contact AIM tech support?

You can on AIM.com through their email system, but they don't respond and if you tell AOL what you need and that AIM doesn't reply they just tell you "we can't help because you do not have AOL service".

Try updating your email address now. It should work.
