aim hacked -- email lookup?

I recently had my aim name hacked (it was an interesting name). Somehow the guy looked up my old email address, hacked that, and then had my password sent to it. He then signed on my name, and told me how he did it. I'd explain exactly how, but the last thing we need is a bunch of 12 year olds trying it to all their friends. But it basically comes down to this -- does anyone know how you can look up someone's email through their aim name?

I had never accessed that email address from this computer, nor have I even spoken of it (so there's no evidence of the email on this computer whatsoever). The email is not listed in any search engines. I'm 100% sure I was not hacked. Somehow they found out my email address by my aim. Now I know I can look up aim names from email addresses, but does anyone know how one can extract email addresses from aim? I know he did it this way, because he didn't hesitate to show me his collection of 3-4 letter aim names that he had hacked.

I'd just like to email him, expressing my great displeasure. And perhaps have something to report if necessary...

Thanks for your time.

Danny

As far as I know, you cannot look up an email address from a screen name; you can do the reverse, however. On your buddylist, click on people>find a buddy>by email address. Type in the email addy and it will show screen names tied to that if the screen name privacy preferences allow it, and if AIM decides to show you all of the screen names. AIM doesn't always show all the email addresses it should, but I think unsticky made a program that checks as well, and it sometimes grabs screen names AIM doesn't and vice-versa.

"I know he did it this way" - i think your reasons for coming to bigblueball is because this person told you the way he was doing whatever it is he did, and you obviously dont want to accept what he's saying or are having a hard time with it. so now your here looking for hope and answers to questions you've already had answered.

Actually Lexapro, the reasons for coming to bigblueball was to find out if you can dig up an email off an aim name as previously stated in my original post; Unfortunately lex, I didn't come here for a psychiatric analysis. But thank you for your input.

Basically, the clever brat changed the email attached to the aim, as I found out using Jon8RFC's mentioned method, as well as some of those programs that look it up for you. This of course means I can't just go to my provider and have my email password changed in order to save my aim name.

It's important because if it isn't possible, then he found out my information another way, and I have a leak somewhere that needs to be taken care of.

Anyway, thank you Jon8RFC for your informative answer. If I find out a way, I'll be sure to report it here on the forums.
