Yeah, it might be off for good.

There might be more threads as well if you use "toc" as the search term...but, those might say the same thing.

it seems AIM/AOL has upgraded the TOC protocol as i've seen people calling it TOC2.

http://forums.miranda-im.org/showthread.php?p=28659 shows where to get the TOC2 plugin for miranda im.

here is one OCX/control (usually used for Visual Basic programing) by arub that you can use to connect to "TOC2" servers: ArubSocktoc 2

[s]it also seems as if gaim will support it in it's next version (as far as i can tell, which seems impressive already).[/s] some say gaim has never supported TOC even though it is listed on the protocols page of the gaim site.

adium already supports TOC2 (maybe?).

http://naimdoc.net/index.php/TOC_Issues explains how to connect to TOC2 using naim.

in other words it's probably not the server's fault (maybe AOL/AIM broke TOC1 or they upgraded to TOC2) it's your client's.

arub is an unknown quantity at this point
if you know what your doing and your client is open source, you should be able to fix it by learning from my toc2 control

btw, some of the stuff in your toc2 link is wrong. for example, the server doesn't send "IM_IN2", they send "IM_IN_ENC_2"

JAIMBot on Sourceforge.net

I built a web based toc client based on code produced by Level One Labs project called JaimBot which you can find on Sourceforge.net. It's a very clean and simple java based tool that handles the connection logic to the aim servers.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/jaimbot

AOL turned off support for TOC1 but I can verify that TOC2 does work quite well and if you want to know how to connect, you can see a working example by browsing the cvs repository of this project. The class named AIMClient.java handles most if not all of the connection logic.

NOTE: You have to browse the CVS repository because as of today they haven't released the updated TOC2 files... the 1.3 release you see in the download section is for TOC1. I'm not affiliated in any way with the project so I can't tell you when they will or if they will formally release an update.

Anyway, maybe it will be helpful...Good luck.
