Buddy Alert Sounds??

I lost all the data on my computer yesterday, and had to reload the 6.9 version of AIM, which I had been using prior to the crash. I have perfect sound on my computer, and I have the Settings for my Buddy's properly set, BUT I am unable to get the Buddy Alert Sounds to alert me, when my Buddy's arrive. The sounds Preview perfectly, and the pop-up window for the Buddy Alert works fine....but no sounds!! Once again, the settings are in perfect order. I have Windows XP

One other thing...in losing the computer data yesterday, I lost all of my 1 years worth of precious IM's that were archived with my Buddy. ANY WAY to retrieve them now? Thanks!

When you say you lost all your data, I don't know if the data/program was simply removed, lost as part of a virus, or you had to reformat for some reason.

There could be various reasons sounds don't work, but knowing the situation as to why the reinstall was done may help narrow them down a little.

Thanks, but I figured out why I was not getting Buddy Alert sounds. It was because I was not HIGHLIGHTING the specific Buddy and then choosing my settings.
All is well now. Thanks

Patndoris, I lost all of my computer data, because I had a glitch in my Windows XP, so I was doing a System Restore. Stupidly I got impatient and shut off my computer midway through the System Restore, which caused my system to lose all of it's information. No virus was involved...Just stupidity for shutting my computer down too early.

I'm sorry. I don't think there is much you can do. Regular data backup would be a good thing for the future.
