Sept 11th events

As we all clearly know, September 11th is approaching. Is where you live preparing some special event to the tragic moment? I think it's becoming a holiday of sorts, but I can't be sure. How about you guys?

What a disrepectful way of putting it. "Memorable" would've been a much more decent word.

Congratulations. That's the most disgusting thing I've ever heard you say. 9/11 obvoiusly hasn't affected or touched you in any way. It's becomming a day of mourning; it always has been since - not a holiday.

Here? No nothing memorable is happening to my knowledge. Probably there will be a ceremony at school to repect the unfortunate ones - but I don't think my city has anything in mind.

I usually would say something here about the 9/11 attack - but it could offend some... okay it would offend 90% of the members of these forums... US residents. meh. I'm be quiet.

Holiday?
-Isn't a holiday a day or two, where you take the day off enjoying yourself, sipping lemonaide on the beaches of Florida??
I'm sure I wouldn't be doing that during that time.
From me living in the biggest city, and most populated city in Canada, being Toronto, of course we will be having a masive cermoney remembering those of 9.11. Especially since we are so close to New York, and having many residents mothered from NY.

I said, I don't have control over NJ laws, the holiday thing is just a rumor. And I care heavily for 9/11, as I have a lot of family in NY whose necks coulda been on the line. And when you say 'memorable' it sounds good. This, obviously wasn't good. So think twice before you call me 'disrespective' on this issue.

I know. Of course you don't. But they way you phrased yourself gave me in the impression that you were actually a bit "happy". Sorry. My bad.

Sorry - maybe I misunderstood you again. But you made it seem like it was _your opinion.

Mr. Diablos said: "I think it's becoming a holiday"

&lt;sarcasm&gt; No that definitley CANNOT be your opinion. &lt;/sarcasm&gt;

Most people think that 'memorable' refers to a positive event. But it's just a ...okay - assumption. The refer to it as positive because come on - who wants to remember negative things in life. Imagine - a beautiful ceremony in loving memory to respect the unfortunate ones of the tragic events on 9/11. Now I don't think you'd just wanna throw that out the back of your mind. You'd want to remember it because it had meaning. You'd want to keep it a memory. Memory. Memorable.

9/11 was memorable, although definately not a happy memory. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have heard many people recall exactly where they were when President Kennedy was assassinated back in the early 60's. I was too young to remember that, but I think this will be a similar event.

I can remember exactly where I was when I found out about 9/11. I was in my home office, dialing in for a teleconference. I was the only caller online, when I got an instant message from one of my co-workers saying that a plane had just crashed into the World Trade Center. I quickly turned on the TV and saw the events unfold. It was chilling.

I hope that we all remember that day, and use it to reflect on our lives here on this Big Blue Ball we call earth, and what we are doing personally to make it a better place.

'holiday' derived from 'holy day', I have no problem with it being a holiday.
I can appreciate the religious significance of the event, How short are your memories?

You really think _that_ was the 'holiday' Mr. Diablos was refering to? No offense Mr. Diablos - but heck I'd be surprised if he even knew what the non-commercial definition of holiday was - what 15 year old kid does know? I'm pretty sure he was refering as to the commercial 'holiday' that we've grown to know that "theoretically"; has no religious aspects.
