Configuration / Setup Utility Problem
Hey everyone. I know this isn't a Windows help forum or anything, but I have talked with a couple of my "computer geek" friends, and they don't know what the problem is, or how to fix it. So I thought I would ask you guys here.
If you are willing to help, the problem as follows:
When I turn on my computer, after the "black" screen loads, it jumps into the Configuration / Setup Utility.
If you haven't been in there before, it has these options:
=System Summary
=Product Data
*=Devices and I/O Ports
=Date & Time
=System Security
=Start Options
=Advanced Setup
=ISA Legacy Resources
=Advanced Power Management
THEN
-Save Settings
-Restore Settings
-Load Default Settings
I am assuming the problem was in the Devices and I/O Ports, because instead of being marked with a bullet, it was marked with an arrow.
If I enter the file, or whatever it is, it has the following options:
=Mouse [Installed]
=Diskette Drive A [1.44 MB 3.5"]
=Diskette Drive B [Not Installed]
=Serial Port Setup...
=Parallel Port Setup...
*=Video Setup
=IDE Drives Setup...
I assumed the same procedure, and entered the file (or whatever it is) marked with an arrow, and seen the following:
=Video Controller
=Video Memory
=DDC Monitor Checking
=Video Interrupt
=Palette Snooping
*=Video Display Type
And this is where it I guess says where the problem is. The setting it has defaulted I guess is:
[SPT21264-DDC ]
Then if I press over there is the following:
[User Defined]
[Custom]
[IBM2110]
[IBM2111]
[IBM2112]
[IBM2113]
[IBM2115]
[IBM2117]
[IBM2238]
[IBM2248]
[IBM2264]
[IBM2414-A04]
[IBM2414-A07]
[IBM5574-N15/515]
[IBM5574-N17/517]
[IBM6312]
[IBM6314]
[IBM6315]
[IBM6317]
[IBM6318]
[IBM6319]
[IBM6322]
[IBM6324]
[IBM6325]
[IBM6327]
[IBM6555]
[IBM9521]
[IBM9524]
[IBM9525]
[IBM9527]
Which then it begins where it began [SPT2164-DDC ]
Does anyone with an IBM know of the correct one it is supposed to be on, or anyone know, or does it apply to only my pc, and if it does, do you have an estimate, or even know which one it needs to be on?
I don’t think it’s the biggest problem, only because I can get around it. Like I mean, I can exit the set-up, and access Windows. If it matters, which I don’t think it does, I’m running 98SE. The only problem that I have with it, is that it doesn’t go away, probably cause it wants me to fix it. And it’s annoying, having it appear every time I start my computer.
Does anyone know of what I can do, or can direct me to someone, or somewhere that I can get help?
Oh and, I’ve been having this problem since ummm back in August or September when my computer ^&%& up on me. When I had it back from my sister-in-law, (who replaced my mother board & reinstalled windows, well, I guess she had to right? With no board, no windows ) wasn’t able to fix it. Same problem then, same problem now. If you need any more information please let me know, I would really like to get this resolved!
Thanks.
T.M.
