yep, of course i've heard of these things in disney movies. and i was in like 5th grade or so.

i've seen the erection in the little mermaid, and the phallus on the cover, along with the word "sex" in the lion king. oh yeah, and the balcony scene in aladdin. sam, it sounds like "teenagers" instead of "girls" to me, but i guess it doesnt matter.

i dont know if this is true or not, but i heard in earlier versions of the wizard of oz, there is a scene in the forest where a munchkin in the background "hangs" himself, apparently because he wanted the role of tin man. well when i went back to look at the tape, i thought i saw something, but maybe something appeared because i was expecting it or wanting it.

That's pretty interesting. That thing about the Wizard of Oz is false though, you can read more about it here.

I'm not sure where people got the idea that someone or something in the background died, though.

fwiw, a page including many of the Disney gags mentioned here. You be the judge if they're subliminal or not.

Yeah, the whole thing with that though, is if you are an older member (as in your 20s or older), you probably have the old VHS versions of these movies. I do. I know that I've seen some of those gags done.

Some of the teens of this community may have the DVD versions of the movies, therefore, might not be able to catch it.

I know what I saw and heard

EDIT: okay, trying to find some decent sites. This one is for the Lion King.http://www.animatedbuzz.com/WB/36.html and after you see and read the text, scroll down to the bottom, there are other ones about the Little Mermaid and The Rescuers and so forth.

As it mentions in all of the text, they are apparent from the old version of the VHS tapes.

Yes this one is really big, if you watch late night tv you'll see it alot. If any of you watch the tonight show with Jay Leno, there is a subliminal 4 created by lighting in the background.

Also if anyone has seen fightclub, you will notice some frames in which brad pitt's character appears then dissapears.

sorry, i dont see it. and if there is a four there, it's most likely not on purpose and not subliminal. i'm assuming that 4 is the channel that he's always on (sorry, i dont watch enough TV to know what channel Leno is on...)?

that's the point. there it's deliberate. in the beginning of the movie they talk about editing frames in movies, splicing in... um... questionable material.

As I was going down the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today; I wish I wish he'd go away.

There is a 4 there. And one of the guests even came on and mentioned it, I beleive it was tom cruise a whileback. He's on channel 3 for me though.

I believe the reason they are there, at least in Disney cartoons, is the result of animators simply being funny. There are so many animators on a film, that its practically impossible to track down who did the naughtiness, making it difficult to prevent. Disney doesn't put them there on purpose, they simply just slip through the cracks, and are usually cleaned up for the next release.

The head animator was a sick perv and slipped it all in last second, he got fired so you shouldn't find any of that stuff post-Pochahantas.

There are some others I've heard about, I don't think I beleive all of them, but sometime I might watch those movies and find out.
One night a long time ago at a middle school birthday party we stayed up all night verifying all those rumors and it really does say that if you turn the volume way up, craziness.

Hrmm... I've never seen anything "Subliminal" in movies, or TV. ... Technically, I wouldn't know because true Subliminal triggers the sub-concious, not concious mind. But, anyhow, No.

I've heard about this in movies though. According to my 8th Grade Science Teacher, the Movie theaters added subliminal messages all the time into movies. Heres how it worked: You finally go out and see that movie you've been wanting to see. So, you're sitting there, right, and all of a sudden, you -think- you saw some words flash on the screen. "Did I just see... No, it's my imagination." After a while, you see it a few times. Then, you feel thirsty all of a sudden. "Hey I think I'll go get a Drink!"

The Movie theaters blended in phrases such as "YOU ARE THIRSTY" and "YOU ARE HUNGRY" to get potential movie-watchers to buy drinks and snacks from their concession stands to make more money, untill the F.C.C. caught up on it, BAN. It was pretty effective while it lasted.

People even use Subliminal Messages for therapy, relaxation, to quit smoking, all sorts of things. Site: http://www.innertalk.com/
