What is your favorite war movie?

"War movies" is one of my favorite genres. I simply love a good war/military related movie and I have quite a collection. Saving Private Ryan and Pearl Harbor rank right at the top of my fav's ( its hard to pick just a few because there have been many great ones). So, what are some of yours - maybe you like one that I am missing from my collection.

Also, if anybody knows where I can find Tora Tora Tora on DVD I would appreciate the info.

Not the typical war movie, but my favourite would be "The Last Samurai", defenitely.

I really liked the blunt, rather frank battle sequences, the impressive landscapes, and the engrossing storyline. In addition, I personally feel that the reason's being fought for in the film, honour, integrity and love of the motherland, are things that I believe in and would support myself.

The Longest Day by far. It shows both sides of WWII, not just the American side. And the Germans actually speak German

All Quiet On The Western Front.

Showed the real war and didnt glorify it like most of the Hollywood movies do. Definetly worth a look.

OMFG, I can't believe I'm saying this but Danger Boy is right, Full Metal Jacket is the best war film I have ever seen, it's also in my top 5 best films.

The best part is when the psycho sergent is going round and just generally shouting at all his new recuits, "Only two kind of people come from Texas, steers and queers. You don't look mush like a steer to me, so that kind of narrows it down a bit"

i haven't seen very many war movies recently...

the longest day sounds really good from what I see here, I gotta check it out
and i've been wanting to see apocolypse now and full metal jacket (i've seen parts of the latter and I have the movie but I haven't watched it)
and i've been meaning to watch platoon... I hear it's really really good (and it might oust my listed fav war movie posted down below)

all quiet on the western front was good... I watched it in 9th grade history right after we read the book (both were good)

and what i'm going to say as my favorite war movie is
    Saving Private Ryan
half because it's a good movie, half because this is the first thing to come to mind (ie there might be another movie I like but it's not coming to me atm)
    i win
