How can I get a Gmail Account SPAMMERS
The only downside to Gmail. Wanabe Gmail Spammers. If you have a Gmail account, you probably already know what I'm talking about. If you haven't received these, consider yourself lucky. I get at least two of these every week. I'd rather have real spam then these desperate emails from strangers with strange names. For example:

quote:sir/madam,
i need to know how can I register for a new gmail account.
i went into the site but it only has the login facility but no signup facility.
can you help me out regarding this.
thanking you,
kesavan

At least this guy tried to make an effort:

That space of email would be ideal for me but I can't sign up without an invite. Is there anyway you can hook a soldier up with an account or invite or something? milan@gmail would be sweet. Thanks for your help

Any other gmailers out there want to vent on this annoyance? Or at least tell me I'm not the only one!

I feel for you and other people. I wouldn't bother anyone like this, I would rather wait when it is made available to the general public.

I didnīt get anything like that. Not from strangers and not from anyone I know. They all gave me freedom to choose who I wanted to invite. Most of my friends didnīt have any idea what gmail anyway, and others who new, didnīt actually know what to do with all that space.
But I find it usefull as I can e-mail myself papers from work and read them home without carrying my portable HD arround.

Shifter, don't post your address if you don't want email!
I had posted mine in my blog, and I did get one such email. It's not spam in the traditional sense; it's just people jonesing for Gmail bad enough to beg and grovel (did *I* do that?).
From what I recall, they'll be releasing it to the public in August or September anyway, which will be here before you know it.
