Damn GAIN Spyware Crap!!!!!

I pride myself in knowing that my computer is completely spyware, adware, and malware free. I rarely ever scan for spyware since I'm so careful. I've even ditched IE due to its countless security holes, which scumbag companies like Claria (formerly Gator) exploit in order to install this junk.

HOWEVER, I have been unsuccessful in convincing other users of my computer to stay away from Internet Explorer and only use it on trusted sites when absolutely necessary. Well, you know what happens next.... My brother is browsing the web WITHOUT the popup blocker on. He apparently got a pop up that was nearly invisible, the window was shrunk and used an invisible gif file. At the time he didnt know what I was talking about until I did a little investigating and found out just exactly how it got installed. Then he seemed to start remembering.

Now I'm stuck with the task of removing this thing. So I went to the GAIN website (http://www.gainpublishing.com/) and theres a toll free number for uninstallation issues. First of all, THERES NO DAMN UNINSTALLER IN THE FIRST PLACE! I'm wondering whether I should attempt to try to remove this myself and possibly get everything. Or hopefully they will be able to tell me how to completely remove it.

And also trying to answer the question: "Should I curse them out before or after they help me remove this garbage?"

EDIT: Actually I dont even think its toll free. Great!

For you, and you only I give scumware removal at the low price of $0.00, brought to you by 3b's search utility. Use it wisely my friend.

thanks detn8r. one step ahead of ya. I already went and downloaded spybot and adaware and scanned. also went through my system manually getting rid of extra files and registry keys. spyware is my ultimate pet peeve. now ive had a chance to vent on here and also to claria in a very assertive email (had to keep myself from getting too angry). hopefully its gone for good and I can relax now.

I don't know if Adaware or Spybot removes some of program files folder created by some spyware so after you clean all that up using spyware you might want to make sure those folders are deleted as well.

yeah I found that they do a better job of detecting it than removing it. there was alot of stuff that it missed.
