ladybugev -- Do as James did, and contact the CRTC via their website.

It's been over two years since my complaint, but I do remember Telus refused to give me any refund and told me to hound txtchallenge CSR's. Big help.

From what I can remember, I was charged around $30-40 before I finally got it cut off... and the last conversation I had with them was, that I did cancel the service, but then answered one of the previous questions they sent me and reactivated the damn service again. Big crock of elephant **** if you ask me.

I ended up paying for it, and never got anything back from them -- but doing collections for Bell, Rogers and Fido, I've come across countless customers who had this happen to them, and they didn't know who to contact and they just refused to pay their bill and it was sent to collections.

Text Challenge

I too have been scammed as I got my latest Cell phone bill with a 34 dollar additional charge...due to textchallenge. They very subtlely got me into it and when I enquired with my service provider, I was told that they have no responsibility as they are billed and they pay "text challenge" and the service provider recover it from the cell phone user.

The lady in text challenge told me also to email to info@textchallenge.com about my grievance and they would investigate and revert within three business days.

Personally, one has to make a strong complaint indicating how they got into it without even indicating the implications of an additional extra charge all through.

Well, laws support a commitment in the form of an agreement, but any agreement secured through tricks or manipulative tactics will I believe not get the support of law. Therefore have your story ready and be ready to back it up as far as possible.

Perhaps all those affected by this mischief need to get in touch and collectively form a case and I am sure we will establish who are the aggrieved ones..

Hey people, just to let you know I had a nice long talk with FIDO and have got the credit back. FIDO is aware of such manipulative efforts by agencies. They say NEVER give your Cell numbers on any schemes, contests wherever they may be as this gives opportunistic agencies to send sms texts and they make money on such communications.

Anybody scammed, please get after FIDO, they will refund and get after textchallenges.com or whoever....

I too was caught by this scam and I am working on it right now. I called the 1-866-670-0126 to have the messages stopped and they said they would send me another text message to confirm this, I called back and finally got an agent and told him not to send another text message and this has cost me a small fortune so far. I thought it was rogers who was sending these messages and found out it was through Facebook where you get a pop up that you have messages and when you click on it this is how you start getting these messages. Facebook should be made aware of this situation if they are not already aware of it. I have called Rogers on this but I do not think they will re-imburse me for anything. I have sent an email to info@textchallenge.com but have not received an answer as yet. I will call the company again and demand a full refund as this is fraudulent.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated

You got sucked in through Facebook? You have to send them a text message (that's how they catch your cell number).

It's possible some dick head is doing advertising with Facebook about it, you never know. If you run across the advertisement, take a screen shot and show us.

And for the record, it seems only Fido is willing to remove the charges for people. Telus and Rogers have refused.

I'll take the time to plug the company I'm involved with, Pre Paid Legal. Raise some hell with Rogers, and if they still refuse, and are interested in consulting with a lawyer, let me know.

So far, you have been able to stop the messages by just sending "stop" to it's text number. Try it.

I have done alot more investigation into this matter and found out for sure it happened on facebook. When you log into facebood there appears a message telling you that you have 2 messages and to enter your cell phone number to get them. Bang that is where they get you. When I phoned this Text Challenge they tried to tell me that they send a pin number to be and that I had to go back into their site and enter the pin number in order for them to continue to text message me and that never happened. I assumed these text messages were coming from Rogers and just deleted them. I spoke with Rogers today and they had used up 198.00 since April sending me these text messages. Luckily I received a full credit for these messages but I want people to be aware of what is happening out there. I am no dummy but I certainly was scammed this time and I am so lucky to have such a good company as Rogers who understood the situation as I am not the only one this has happened to. SO PEOPLE BE AWARE AND NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER TO ANYONE BUT FAMILY AND FRIENDS
