Do I have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)?
Whenever I lock my car, I always check and double-check that it's securely locked and the windows are wound up. Not just visually, but I have to tap each window (my parking lot is not sheltered, and I'm worried that the inside would get wet if it rains).
I also arrange my son's school books neatly as he has three piles on the table. And I make sure that all the dishes are arranged neatly. And LOL, I clean my computer keyboard on a daily basis.
That got me thinking: do I have OCD? So I was very glad to see this OCD assessment on the Web. Completed it, and scored a 41, which means...

Guess I'm OK!

51 - 100 It is possible you have OCD and that it is affecting your life. We recommend that you carry out a full assessment (you could try our full version) or seek diagnosis from a mental health professional.

Hmm. Is it a bad sign that I've been known to arrange cereal boxes (in the house I lived in senior year of college) in descending order by width and height?

I scored a 57.
My biggest issue is the doing things according to "my numbers." When I clock in or out of work, when I'm going to call someone, simple things like that..... It has to end in certain numbers or else I won't do it. Yeah it's something I can't help but do.
But in all that, no, I don't have OCD nor would I classify myself as having it and no I'm not in denial!
I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

On the contrary, Tigerblade. You're just being neat. And that's a virtue .

I scored a 66.
Yikes!
Hmm... Like Nessa, I have an issue with the time clock. I clock out twice usually, just to make sure I clocked out. And I ussually organize all my coupons in my drawer by size (I'm a cashier), put all credit card slips into one pile...stuff like that. I will also spend 5 minutes or more looking at my work schedule to make sure I have written it down correctly.
I will double and triple check to make sure doors are locked too...And for some reason I find it EXTREMELY difficult to load a dishwasher. It never seems "right" to me...So I'll just hand wash them if I ever need to.
And I collect things...Bottle caps...magazines...And I have homework from 4 years ago in a huge paper pile because I am scarred if I recycle it, I will have needed it for some reason.
It is REALLY odd that I scored a 66 though, because I'm lazy, and often have a very messy, unorganized room! Strange. I worry often and avoid certain situations and stuff...maybe that contributed to such a high score? *scratches head*

Hmmm - and I thought I'd have more tendencies than my score (34) indicated because I like to be organized - lesson plans, materials gathered, packing for trips, lists of to-do's, stuff like that. So, I guess I'm ok. Well, I knew I was ok, and like everyone else here, have some things that just gotta be done a certain way - for organizations sake.

I scored 41, there were a lot of questions in the assessment that surprised me as I never thought some of them were to do with OCD.
I think my major problem is washing my hands, only when I am cooking though, probably about 20 times during the prep of a meal, it's the touching meat thing that gets to me, eg if I touch some meat and have to put something in the bin, I wash my hands before touching the handle on the bin.. mmh ok I am a fruit cake haha
Other than that, I don't worry much, but I am sure you all know that , and I rarely double check things.

Well you did double-check the score, right, Sarah? We both scored 41.

I had a 48, and I put "never" for that question.
I really thought washing your hands 'excessively' during meal prep was normal... I mean, when you switch from touching meat to... anything, you should wash, otherwise you're basically getting meat juice (and bacteria) all over the place.

I'm OCD, I admit it! I've been told some of the traits are a sign of high intelligence - so I'm sticking with that one!! I scored an 82....which is higher than anyone else admits to, so I'm the most OCD we've got at the moment. Can I nominate myself for "Most OCD MotM"?
