Strange network problem

hello people ..
Well i'm having problems working on the network.
I have a pentium 2.4 Ghz with windows xp installed.
there is an onboard lan card but that's disabled and i'm using a standard Mercury Lan card which has updated drivers.
I've checked my system for conflicts, also ran ad-aware and spy sweeper software to remove any unwanted browser programs.

PROBLEM ..
i'm trying to connect to a house network. On this network there are two houses, each house having a hub which then connect into a Mercury wireless router and then into a NTL broadband modem.
Each time I try to connect my pc to the network it causes the router to fail and it has to be reset.
Thing is nobody else on the network has a problem and can surf the net fine until I connect my pc and shut everything off. Even though the router has disconnected file sharing is still possible on all computers.

I've tried reseting the TCP/IP settings on my pc but to no avail.
Any ideas ?
Help me !

Compare your setup to all others on the network.
Identify the one thing different that sets your computer apart from the others and you will have identified the cause.

Naturally, I guess the network is peer to peer and local file sharing is handled seperately than when connected to the web in that case global share with the web is usually blocked.

Hello,

Make sure that you're not using the same IP address - How does your routing table look in the wireless router? And as for the wireless router, make sure you are using WEP and turn off the SSID.

Also - if you can, try to recreate the problem - then disconnect one of the other computers from the network - the results may help in finding a solution.

Hope that helps!
