Sound card problems

I recently had to uninstall and re-install my drivers and stuff 4 my crap ESS audio drive cause STANAPHONE would not work @ all (Audio coming in) Finally I got it working but I have LOST MS-DOS AUDIo,in fact when I try and run an ms-dos game,the computer locks up

It used to load ESSSOLO.COM @ startup to handle ms-dos audio (In the autoexec.bat file) I have tried putting this file back into the autoexec file,and I can load an ms-dos game,but no audio (The game says NO SOUND CARD DETECTED) Could the drivers for ESSSOLO.COM have been deleted???

How would I go about repairing this POS ess audio card??????? I dont wanna lose stany audio or any other audio I have (All audio except ms-dos now) And I have noticed the audio is choppy and goes off more then before (If I click an icon on my desktop,etc.........) So it IS working,but just barely

This thing was configured to combine all the diff. inputs together,i could select CD INPUT and use a microphone to talk and record,it was messed up.........Now I notice it MUST be on the right input to record a voice file with a mike,etc........

Ne help would be appreaciated!!!!!!

Thanx all,

Your friend,

The Dude

Um, I hate to say this, but I've been reading your posts for the past several months, and this needs to come out. I don't want to call you a moron or anything, but you really need to stop acting like you are a 12 year old.

Nobody here can read and fully understand your posts. You clearly understand the English language, but yet you refuse to not add '??????' and '!!!!!!!' to everything that needs emphasis. There is no reason for this, and it only makes you look like some sort of jackass. I won't even get into the use of stupid thing like @=at (you still have to press the friken shift key!) and 4 = for. Please cut that crap out.

As for your question, I can't answer it, because you provided almost no useful and understandable information. I really doubt that anyone else here can read this poor excuse for a topic.

I'm sorry to be rude, but you drive me crazy.

I agree with Twisted, your post is unreadable and I have no idea what you are talking about.

Maybe you need to start with:

The DOS emulator you are using.
The OS you run.
The sound card model.

well maybe im thick but I understand the basis of the question - lost full audio in DOS,

it sounds thought you card needs to have DOS-Level application support and since you had it before sounds like the driver .dll maybe corrupted as a guess. You could try

( set -soundcard) =Axxx Dx Ix H5 Pxxx T6
where Axxx = I/O Port
Dx = the DMA channel
Ix = the IRQ
Pxxx = the MIDI Port

Check Windows Device Manager and under the properties for the sound card, click the Resources tab and obtain the appropriate port values and add them into the SET statement.

hope this leads you on the right path .

All ESS Technology sound cards support DOS box mode. In Windows, you launch the DOS box by double-clicking on the DOS icon. However, in Windows NT4/2000/XP, DOS-based programs and games are unable to access I/O port and resources directly in its (DOS) Command Prompt as in Windows 95/98/98SE/Me, thus audio function may not work in the Command Prompt window

By no means is anybody here being crass, the dude.

All the points made above are valid. My God, chill with the exclamation points and the periods...

If by the time we are finished reading your post, we need to re-read two times to fully comprehend it, how will we be able to help you? You still haven't told us what DOS emulator you are using or your OS.

If you are running an NT-based OS and trying to run the sound, then read what alleycat said:

Are you even using a DOS emulator?
