How to eliminate Microsoft Outlook from Office 2000

I am using Windows XP Professional and using Outlook Express for my email. I have a problem, when trying to email files, pictures, etc. Microsoft Outlook comes up for me to use for emailing. Sometimes Outlook Express will come up and I use it with no problem. I just want to stop Microsoft Outlook from trying to be my email software. Any suggestions. thanks

The other post on this forum was about Outlook Express, they corrected themselves further in their message. I need to eliminate or stop the connection to Microsoft Outlook. thanks

You should be able to go to the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs. Select Outlook and *poof* it's gone.

Welcome to BBB, Walter. Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab. There should be a drop-down box where you can choose your preferred email program. Choose Outlook Express and click OK. From then on Outlook Express will be your default email program.

can't delete Microsoft Outlook

Hi, thanks for the responses. Since Microsoft Outlook is part of the Office 2000 software, you cannot go to control panel/remove software and remove it. Also my default email is set to Outlook Express in the Internet options of the control panel.
When I try to email from my picture folder, the first email will be Outlook Express, but if I am trying to send more than one picture separate, then Microsoft Outlook comes up as the email all other times. Must be some setting somewhere that allows this?? My email from my provider works fine, no problems. thanks

it didn't work correctly

I thought the delete of Microsoft Outlook worked, but it didn't. It did to the point of not using it to send multiple pictures. What it did wrong was, dropped my link to my email and cleared my address book in Outlook Express. I restored my system and back where I was at the beginning of posting this problem.

Wow, this one is puzzling. I can't think of anything at the moment, but maybe you could try uninstalling all of Office 2000. Reboot, and install Office 2000 again, this time omitting Outlook.

afraid to try anything else

I am afraid of losing my email addresses and the email link again. I don't understand the link between Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. What is the connection?
