Win32 Virus Please Help Asap

Went to check my facebook for updates and Internet Explorer failed on me. It came up and told me the program was corrupt. It got worse all my programs dont work and my downstairs pc doesnt even show any of the files on my desktop. Ran a anti virus scan and it went mental everything is infected with this Win32 Virut

Check your systems as this is a nasty virus and can cause major hassle. If anyone knows where this WIN32 VIRUT comes from let me know i want to track down the pillock who sent me it so i can personally visit them and cause them serious trouble.I now have to format the downstairs pc because of this

Anyone with good technical knowlege able to tell me where this win32virut comes from. It damaged my entire operating system on the downstairs pc so i am posting using the upstairs pc. None of the programs work on it they are all corrupted and this win32 virut has even stopped the files appearing on my desktop.

Who ever virused my system was able to bypass my anti virus and firewall. Im running avg and its uptodate and i have the windows firewall activated so how the hell did it get in?

Viruses morph and change all the time. No system is totally immune to them. Firewalls can be bypassed, AV companies struggle to keep up with the daily changes to existing malware, as do all security software vendors.

W32 Virut is considered polymorhic and parasitic. It changes to avoid detection and keeps itself alive on a system, while injecting it's code into various files. Some variants may disable your security software rendering them useless to prevent the corruption.

This is a backdoor trojan and you should be aware your system security has been compromised. If you have any sensitive data such as banking or other personal information on your computer you should go to a known clean computer and change passwords.

This is not a new virus. You can get infected many ways. It is unlikely someone specifically targeted you - more likely you happened to click on the wrong thing at the wrong time. If you really want more information I can direct you to some technical sites about it - but the reality is that you are already taking the recommended action for a backdoor trojan infection by reformatting.
