Cerulean Studios today announced the long-awaited Trillian Pro 2.0 beta. This beta is only open to registered owners of Trillian Pro 1.0, and adds more than 200 new features and bug fixes.
Here are some of the key features:
- Unicode Support and Language Packs
This will be a big boost for international and non-English users.
- Per Connection Contact List
One of the great strengths of Trillian has long been the ability to create multiple connections on the same IM network, allowing you to connect with several AIM screen names, for example. Now when you do this, your contact lists remain unique for each screen name.
- Increased Connectivity
As youve read here at BigBlueBall, Jabber support is now included via a plug-in. This opens the door to plug-in developers, allowing them to write connection services for any IM network.
- More Organized
Tabbed IM windows and self-organizing notification windows makes it easier for you to manage your chats.
- Seamless Skin Installation
Older skins should still work with 2.0, but now skin developers can create an easy-to-install .TSZ (Trillian Skin Zip) file.
- SDK 2.0
Plug-in developers have much more power than ever, with new capabilities to create new network connections, or communicate with other plug-ins.
If youre using the free version of Trillian, many of these features will be making their way into the next free version, but unfortunately youll have to wait a little longer. Paying for Pro does have its benefits.
There is much more, and as time progresses, well post more information here in our BigBlueBall Trillian Center. For now, you can check out Cerulean Studios Trillian Pro 2.0 Sneak Peek, or if youre a registered Pro user, you can download and try the beta version now. Then come by the Trillian forum and tell us what you think of 2.0.
