Yahoo Changes Trash Trillian
Jeff Hester
September 26, 2003 Changes implemented by Yahoo are now in fact crashing Trillian Pro 2.0 as well as the patched versions designed to work with the newer Yahoo protocol. Cerulean Studios are working to resolve the problem with Yahoo Auto-Connection. Until a fix is available, turn off Yahoo auto-Connect in your Trillian connection properties. If you cannot get into to Trillian to change your auto-connect settings, Christy in the trillianusers Yahoo newsgroup suggests editing Trillian’s Yahoo.ini file directly: Click Start -> Run, then type: notepad c:program files rillianusersdefaultyahoo.ini If the file does not load, open Windows Explorer and find your Documents and Settings directory, then your name, then the Trillian directory. There should be a Yahoo.ini file in there. Change the line that says auto connect=1 so that it reads auto connect=0. If you are using more than one Yahoo connection, change the line for each connection. Now save the file and reload Trillian. The developers are working on a fix and no doubt there will be one out before you can say "Yahoo is the new AIM." Discuss in our Trillian Forum Last edited by Jeff; 02-18-2005 at 03:55 PM. |
