For Immediate Release

LOS ANGELES (February 11, 2004) -- Userplane (www.userplane.com), a pioneer in developing innovative web applications, today announced that its site for Red Bull’s Re:Evolution of Sports -- an extreme sports TV show airing on Fox Sports Net – has been named as a finalist at this year’s Flash™ Film Festival in San Francisco.

FlashForward 2004 and the Flash Film Festival, now in its 11th year, is scheduled for March 3-5 at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco. As the world’s largest gathering of Flash users, the gala awards ceremony honors the most groundbreaking Flash applications on the web. Re:Evolution of Sports, one of the first television shows broadcast online, is one of four finalists in the competition’s Video category.

Using Macromedia Flash Communication Server, Userplane developed a streaming video library of television episodes for the program, a show that focuses on the unique lifestyle of extreme athletes and the sports they represent. Fully streamed episodes can be viewed on the Re:Evolution of Sports web site at www.reevolution.tv.

With more than 25 hours of streaming video, Re:Evolution.tv represents the next level of media convergence. The site enables visitors to watch each show in its entirety, view additional clips per show, and even download each show to their computer. Launched by Red Bull and brought to users via the Userplane application platform, the web site enables enthusiasts to view, read about and download entire episodes and photos, as seen on television. With Macromedia Flash Communication Server, streaming large, high quality video files is a simple process, requiring no plug-ins other than Flash itself.

Userplane recently received Macromedia “Site of the Day” recognition for Re:Evolution
(www.macromedia.com/cfusion/showcase/index.cfm?event=sotdarchive&loc=en_us).

"Following closely on the Site of the Day accolade, we’re delighted that this breakthrough application continues to receive this kind of high-level recognition,” said Michael Jones, president, Userplane. “Re:Evolution of Sports is a constantly evolving world of progression, expression and succession, and working with Red Bull’s Re:Evolution we were able to bring that world to the web. Given the amount of creativity and outstanding Flash work being done in the market, it’s a tremendous honor simply to be named a finalist for this award. We’re also hoping that our collective efforts will resonate with those voting in the People’s Choice category.”

This year’s FlashForward festival features 16 categories overall, with 15 winners selected after two rounds of evaluation by expert judges. Userplane’s Re:Evolution will also compete in the 16th category, the "People’s Choice," where one favorite from the full list of 60 finalists will be determined by the public. Voting takes place online at http://www.flashforward2004.com/peopleschoice.asp.
