Lead Developer for Gaim Joins Google
Sean Egan, one of the lead developers for Gaim has been hired by Google to work on Google Talk. He's currently working on making it easier for other IM programs to use Google Talk's voice chat. Obviously one of the first programs likely to offer support for voice chat with Google Talk will be Gaim itself, which Egan continues to work on.
Gaim 2.0 is deep in development, with release expected before the end of the year. This will be a substantial upgrade, with the addition of three new protocols and hopefully support for Google Talk voice as well as webcams with both MSN and Yahoo! Messenger. Thanks to BigBlueBall team member Amy for the tip! |
