Complete End-To-End encrypted Instant Messaging

ELMTree Software has released ChatPatrol for Windows 2000/XP (http://www.chatpatrol.com), a networking plugin that creates a secure messaging layer for users of the public IM services provided by AOL (AIM), Yahoo (YIM) and Microsoft (MSN). What makes ChatPatrol unique is that it operates on the network level, so users don't have to upgrade or switch their IM client software to benefit from encrypted communications. ChatPatrol allows its users to reap the cost benefits of using “free” public Instant Messaging networks to conduct business communications.

With ChatPatrol organizations can rest assured that the information their workers pass on to business partners during Instant Messaging session is secured and only readable by the intended party. By using the “free” public Instant Messaging networks, as opposed to a closed proprietary IM system, organizations are able to reach partners around the globe and with the addition of ChatPatrol, this communication wiil be secure.

ELMTree Software’s founder says, "One of the biggest accomplishments of this product is that it provides an easy to use security system for the average consumer. Users are not required to provide additional authentications or perform complex sequences of actions to enable security. ChatPatrol allows the end user to continue to use whichever IM client software they are comfortable with, while almost transparently adding security to IM sessions."

ChatPatrol creates secure sessions by using a Diffie-Hellman key agreement between the Instant Messaging parties, which results in a 256 bit AES session key.

ChatPatrol uses the industry proven OpenSSL cryptographic engine for all of its security operations and is available for download (www.chatpatrol.com).
