ICQ Adds PC-to-Phone VoIP Calling

AOL-owned ICQ has become the latest instant messenger to add PC-to-phone voice over IP (VoIP) calling.

ICQ 5.1 now allows users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and parts of Asia to make calls from their PC to landlines and mobile phones around the world. In an interesting departure from other other big IM programs, the feature is not yet available in the United States or Hong Kong.

ICQ 5.1 now includes a new dialer interface and enables one-click dialing, call logging, a phone book and the obligatory account balance display. Users have the option of paying using either a major credit card or PayPal.
