SHAPE Services, the developer of popular cross-platform mobile applications as IM+ All-in-One Messenger and IM+ for Skype, today released a beta version of Persistent.im, a web service which allows to set up persistent conferences for cross-IM communication.
Persistent.im users need to invite their peers to the conference only once and the conference will appear as a contact in their instant messenger contact list. When someone in a conference writes a message, it is delivered instantly to all online participants; offline participants receive it when they get online. ![]() Each conference shows up and behaves as a contact in the IM contacts list. Conference participants may use accounts in AIM®/iChat, MSN®/Windows Live™ Messenger, Yahoo!®, ICQ®, Jabber®, Google Talk™ and MySpaceIM. Persistent.im keeps the easy to read message archive during the group lifecycle as a better and more convenient alternative to instant messenger history. Any participant may review the full message history arranged by the conference subject. ![]() The web interface allows the host of the conference to conduct a whole range of activities: invite other users from different IMs, manage the conference and view the status of the conference. Persistent.im is a pure web service that doesn’t require any additional software. For the end users it is just a natural way to talk using their preferred IM software. Currently in Beta, Persistent.im is free and available for anyone. Last edited by Jeff : 07-18-2008 at 11:25 AM.
