A problem with this is that if the network admin can monitor your computer, then they can read your messages.
If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

have you tried any of the multi-client sites like Meebo or Nimbuzz? Nimbuzz has received a lot less attention since much of it is geared toward mobile usage, but they do have web based and it will integrate with WLM quite nicely.
