Schools have no tolerance for curiosity or independant learning. They want you to learn their way and only their way.

I'd have to agree with Jeff.
I suppose you could use a keylogger and scrutinize the logs for such stuff. Or you could do it the good old fashioned way and get some one to squeal on the "wrong-doer". Whatever which way, it sounds a little insane though. Suspended for netstat? You might as well be suspended to try to find PI to infinity... Schools do have their ridiculousness, but this really would be one of the dumbest... I could understand suspention for bullying, spreading porn, breaking tables/doors, switching of the electicity mains etc. Ah, those were good old times when we were lectured when why and how to use MSDOS, NETSTAT, NETSEND, IPCONFIG and program in Qbasic and Turbo Pascal. DME was here, and DME did this |

Our teacher also freaks out if you do a Net Send in the lab.
A guy was marked absent, sent out of the lab and rejected his assignment just because he sent a 'hello' message to all PCs in the lab. |

![]() I hardly post here and whenever I post I always reply irrelevantly just because I read the thing wrong. Damn! its embarassing. Anyways suspending a student for using netstat is even more idiotic. |
