Good tutorial. I'll just add that we don't advocate piracy and this tutorial isn't necessarily about piracy.

If you've purchased music from iTunes, this is one way to use your purchased music on devices like Windows Mobile smartphones, a Zune or other non-Apple MP3 player.

You may also try media converter TuneCab Ultra. TuneCab converts DRM-protected movies and video clips into unprotected WMV, MP4, AVI, DIVX video files. It allows you to define individual profiles for output formats. It supports mobile device synchronization, CD burning, automatic population of ID3 tags, download, save and convert video from YouTube and more. It also converts any audio files and extract sound from video.

I still prefer TuneClone Audio Converter. It simulates the Burning, Ripping and Encoding process by installing a virtual CD burner. All you need to do is to burn your playlist with your media player software to TuneClone's virtual CD Burner, and TuneClone will convert music files in the playlist automatically.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain that converting m4p files with DRM to mp3 files without DRM violates US Title 17, Section 1201, regardless of the reason:

I won't claim that I have never removed DRM from an audio file, but to claim that it's legal is a different story

I don't see where Jeff ever claimed that it was or wasn't legal... just that it's not necessarily about piracy. Piracy is about making and distributing illegal copies. Converting an iTunes song that YOU purchased, for your own personal use isn't what I consider piracy, and I don't think most courts would prosecute you for that use.

For what it's worth, if you want DRM-free music, you can get a lot of the same artists that are on iTunes over at Amazon.com, in DRM-free MP3 format and usually for the same price (sometimes even less!).
