Reality TV, What you Think.

ok, over the years lets say starting in 2000, reality tv has flooded channels with different kinds of shows, but all reality based.

Id like to know what everyone thinks about reality tv.

I myself dont like reality tv, i would rather watch a movie, cartoons, anything else but reality tv. Take the ones on mtv for example, all pretty much the same show, you got all these people, living together in some way or another, playing games to win, i havent seen one any different from the other, and to top it off they even got reality shows that have people from other reality shows come be on there show. The Gauntlet is what im gettin at here.

But anyone , enough of my opinions, let me know what yall think about it.
and i know what your wondering, if he dont like reality tv, how does he know whats goin on with these shows and all there names,,, because my ex used to make me watch the stuff with her lol, i guess that adds to my hatred towards reality tv.

So, lets get some opinions on it

I don't like them. I don't understand why some many others do like them. It is like folks are getting some perverse pleasure watching people fail.

I have never watched a single episode of any of them and I never will. Movies are my choice of entertainment!

I only heard of "reality tv" through advertisments or mention on CNN. What happened to real news?

Yes, I can see the appeal. Sort of like the accident - you don't want to look, but you just can't help yourself. Then they suck you in and make you want to know what happened to so and so. Sort of like soap operas. I don't watch them, and think the term "reality tv" is a misnomer. There is nothing real about it. All of the situations are contrived and the contestants are chosen for their quirks and idiosyncracies and the way they will play against each other.

I prefer to watch The Dog Whisperer (since I have a dog that needs a good whisperin'); reruns of M.A.S.H. and Whose Line, Dirty Jobs, Scrubs and various documentaries on the history of people.

So, that's my opinion.

Dirty Jobs, now theres a show i enjoy, THAT should be real reality tv, that is reality, not this preplanned game show they want to call reality. Working a dirty job is reality, iv had to do it as many others have.

Oh boy reality tv, makes me yawn just thinking about it. We have been flooded in the UK with it over the years. First there was Big Brother, that was few years back now. Back then it was actually quite good. But the reason it was good was mainly due to the fact they had normal everyday people in it. But now, they just put in the 5 minute fame seekers. These days it just makes me cringe.

We have something called Love Island to, which is based on the hope that some of the couples will fall in love. Yeah right like that's going to happen!

Nope I have to say it is not my cup of tea at all.

Here the viewing figures are gradually falling on these programmes, thanks heavens for that hopefully the tv companies will get the message and pull the plug!

Great post Syntax, nothing like a good ole debate to get your teeth into! :0)

they're finding new ways to make reality tv shows here, take the one with flava flav for example, he had a bunch of girls come live in his house and picked through them to find the right one to be with, well i ended up seein some show about it after it was finished and him and the girl he picked ended up deciding they were gonna be friends.... Do i smell a sequal?

my gripe with "reality tv" is that it's not really reality at all. no one lives like that. i dont wake up in the morning and get challenged by my roommate to a water-bucket carrying contest where i have to win if i dont want to do dishes. stuff like that. that plus the fact that there's SO MANY attempts at this stupid reality tv idea that i can't take any more.

reality tv is like soap operas - beautiful people with beautiful problems. oh no, you poor thing, you could only get THREE supermodels to sleep with you? life must be rough for you in your mansion. but don't worry, we have another CHALLENGE!

i agree about shows like Dirty Jobs. That's reality tv. That's what real life is like for real people in the real world. There's a big difference between the real world and "The Real World"

As I was going down the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.

the only thing real about reality tv is the fact everybody is fake there- no real friends, no sympathy, only wanting to see your fellows crash down. either than that- nothing is real. i stopped watching these things long time ago, but these shows have good ratings- otherwise there wouldn't b so many of them spawned every week.

the real "reality tv" shows r called DOCUMENTRIES, which r interesting, and usually teach u something about this world. 1 of the best uses 4 tv.

The reality T.V. fad tries to appeal to so many peoples wants that it got out of hand. If you ask just about anyone they can pick out one or two they do not mind watching but hate reality tv. Like I like Ghost Hunters which is reality tv. but i know many who like something else and hates Ghost Hunters. What the real hate is that there are so many different ones and on a personal outlook for everyone most are junk to watch but someone likes the show or it never make it. Now with cable and digital cable etc... the number of channels is overwhelming so only makes sense to load it with what the fad seems to be for.
However I do agree they are not really reality because no one would do this sort of thing normally.
